Five Ways to Post a Photo Essay to a WordPress.com Blog

Here are five different ways to post a photo essay or slide show to a WordPress.com blog.

1. Upload a series of photos in one post

This is a simple – but not incredibly interesting – option for posting a series of photos. Just post all of your images in one post and let your viewer scroll down. (Click here for instructions.)

2.  Post a series of photos using the Gallery option

The WordPress.com image gallery creates a series of thumbnails in one post. The viewer must click on each thumbnail to see a full image. This is a good option for displaying a lot of photos at one time. (Click here for instructions.)

3. Create a slide show using Slide.com

This is the simplest way to post a slide show to your free WordPress blog. It is a two-step process. You upload your image to Slide.com. Then you post the embed code to blog on WordPress.com. (Click here for instructions.)

4. Create a slide show using Slideshare.net

This is a good option if you like Power Point or if you want to have more control over exactly how your images are displayed. It is a three-step process. You make a slide show using PowerPoint. Then you have to upload your PowerPoint presentation to Slideshare.net. Then you post the code to your blog on WordPress. This option also allows you to add an audio track to your images. 5. Create a slide show using iPhoto and export it as a video

This options allows you to play a slide show as a video. You can control how each image is displayed and add audio tracks. If you have access to iPhoto (only on MAC) you can quickly create a slide show. Then export it as a video file (.mov) and post it to YouTube. Then post your YouTube video to WordPress.com.
